The Race for Life

Last Sunday Emma, my Mother in Law, Debra and I ran the 5km Race for Life to support Cancer Research UK!

Here we are after we did it- super gross and sweaty!
So far we've raised around £190 pounds in sponsorship!  Isn't that amazing?  But, if you want to contribute and make that even more, please click on the button below and donate now.  This is life saving research, and, for me, it's personal.

I've lost two grandparents to cancer, and I have a brave aunt who is a survivor.  One of my greatest fears is that one day I'll get that life changing news, so I want to be ready to fight if it ever happens to me.  And the research we're helping to fund is all part of that.

Donate below, or, as we all said we're up for running again next year- join us! Every little does count.

January Sales Update

I don't know about you, but I'm a sucker for a bargain.

And the January sales have not brought the best out in me.

I may, or may not, have spent a little more than I intended to in the sales this year.

But I have bought some really beautiful items, for example...

This silky pink blazer jacket from Topshop, reduced from £55 down to £25.

This gorgeous skirt, from Topshop, £24 down to £12.

annnnd...
and these fabulous shoes, from Forever21 (ok, they weren't on sale, but still a bargain at £20 :D )

Now, if you've checked out my 25 before 25 list, you might be thinking 'this doesn't bode well for number 3'.  But, I feel it's always a case of where do we go from here.  So, new plan, to balance out the January sales I'm going to create for my self No-shopping February.  Can I do it?  I blumming hope so!

P.S. *just wanted to share how awkward I feel, posing like that! Felt too silly!*

Deciding on New Years Resolutions

I always find picking my new years resolutions tricky, because the nagging feeling at the back of my mind that says its a waste of time, they'll be broken before you hit February.

But I've come up with a list, 12 things to aim for in 2012.

I think the aims rather than specific goals makes the whole idea far more approachable and feel more achievable.  So here we go-

  1. Exercise more - I always say I want to be fitter and go through ups and downs in  my fitness levels, this year I'm aiming for a up!
  2. Learn healthy recipes - linked to number one, no point working hard at the gym and letting yourself down in the kitchen.
  3. Read more - starting the aim of 52 books in a year from my 25 before 25 list.
  4. Watch Less TV-  far too much was watched over the last six months, time to change that!
  5. Organise!- My Monica tendencies help with this but there are still things to work on in the home.
  6. Meet more people - moved to a new town 6 months ago and still don't know many people.
  7. Be more creative when planning dates with Hubby- We always do the same old things, lets make things more interesting, yeh?
  8. Create more- I love crafting, so lets do more and more of that please!
  9. Be more lady like- because, just because.
  10. Become the 'fashionista' I've always wanted to be- i.e. have that 'perfect wardrobe'
  11. Be wiser- by reading my bible and stuff as much as possible.
  12. Be happy- happy is a choice, one I choose as much as possible.
Lets see how this year goes!

Christmas is never quiet

Source: google.com via Sherri on Pinterest

Hey y'all!  How was your Christmas's???

I am still in the middle of a very busy week but I wanted to take the time and write about our Christmas.

This was our first Christmas in our own home, having spent our first married christmas on holiday from university with David's parents.  I was so lovely to just relax and hang out together, starting traditions such as opening stockings and having pancakes for breakfast.

After church my Dad and little sister, Grace, came over for dinner, which Dave and I cooked together.

It was so much fun, and it was one of my goals from 25 before 25! Yay!  But I feel like a fool, because I forgot to take any photos from the whole day!

I've heard that it takes women until the age of 38 to feel confident about cooking Christmas dinner, and a further 5 years before they think of it as 'easy'.

I don't know if that's true for everyone, but I think our start this year at lest set me off on the right foot! :-D

Merry Christmas!!!

Challange Accepted

Hubby has bought me a new house plant!

A bonsi tree.

As you'll see on my 25 before 25 list keeping a houseplant alive is something I aspire to.

So far, just since we got married, I have owned, and killed, 5 different houseplants.

oh dear!

So, bonsi tree's are suposed to be really difficult to kill off, as they dont need a lot at attention, or a lot of water, and if you do neglect them for a while, they are resilient and should recover.

So, here I go.  Plant #6.  Good luck, little one, I promise to try and keep you alive.

NaNoWriMo???

Have you heard of NaNoWriMo? No? Me neither, until this week.

It stands for National Novel Writing Month, a challenge to anyone who has
ever dreamt of writing a novel to do just that, 50,000 words worth of a novel, in one month.

That's right, write one, 50, 000 word novel, in 31 days.

I know, I'm crazy.

But I've ALWAYS wanted to write a book, so I thought, why not have a go.  Not like I've got a life or anything.

So, now, I start tomorrow.  I'm aiming to write between 1600-2000 words per day to stay on target.  I have planned a little bit, I kinda know the theme and the over arching story line, but I really only learnt about it the other day, so I will totally be flying by the seat of my pants.

I'll let you know how it goes!

Pray for me, egg me on and keep me accountable to my commitment,

Freya May
