Christmas Count Down

Christmas Eve is upon us, people!

 I don't know about you, but Christmas eve is just as exciting and busy for me as Christmas day.

Because we have to see my mum, my dad and David's parents over Christmas, the fesivites start today. 

We're having lunch with David's parents and Grandpa then heading to my mum's our own Christmas day.  We pretend that we're not 24hrs early and have Christmas dinner, and presents and head on to the Midnight service at church. 

This makes Christmas Eve just as exciting and wonderful, so I wish you all a Merry Christmas eve!  And Looking forward to doing it all again tomorrow with my Dad and lil' sister!

Another Busy Weekend

We have had an amazing, if exhausting, weekend, driving all over the country to visit friends and celebrate with them. 

Monday is our friend Fran's 23rd birthday, so we went up to spend Friday night with her and stayed for dinner. 

If we had been able to spend the weekend we would have (finally) gotten to visit the Lincoln Christmas market.  It is supposed to be the best and fanciest market around but out last attempt to go was called off on account of MAJOR snow- perhaps next year we'll manage it.

So, Happy Birthday Fran-Face!  Hope you have an amazing day!

So, Saturday was the Wedding of the beautiful Naomi Joy and her handsome Husband, Shadrack. 

Congratulations, Guys!

We had an amazing day; great celebrations, great food, great people, great party.

We love you both so much and wish you great happiness and all of God's blessings on your future together.

And, last, but not in anyway least, Baby Amos's dedication.

We travelled for almost three hours to celebrate with Rob, Pam (the parents) their families and friends in Surry.  The church service was then followed by a bring a share lunch.

Thank you so much for inviting us to join you on your special day, we were honoured to be involved, and I love seeing how Amos has grown each time we see you.

I've not included a photo off Amos because I haven't asked Pam if it's OK to, if she says yes I can show you all the incredible cuteness that he is!

So, a mega weekend, exhausted at the end but was so much fun!!!

I Love a Beautiful Wedding

One Year Anniversary

Greenbelt Baby!

Another year has gone by and Greenbelt, again, as always, was awesome!  I love the festival, it's usually the most relaxing weekend of the year, because there are no pressures, not required activities, just interesting and fun things to do.  This was my 6th year, which I can hardly believe, and every year I come away, wishing that I could do it over again.  Well, wishing I could have a shower and sleep in my own bed for a night before doing it all over again.

Dave and I had managed to convince a few of our university friends to join us and I do believe that they, too, had a fabulous time! :-)  I think a couple of them thought they'd got rid of us forever, but we've since made plans to sleep on their floor next time we're up at Keele, so no luck of that- Sorry!

So, favourite Greenbelt memories from this year include 'discovering' Edwina Hayes, a singer/songwriter from the UK with a stunning voice that I can't get enough of.  She is the one who sings 'Feels like home' at the end of the film 'Lovely Bones', and, if you know that song, I hope you'll agree that it's just purely beautiful.

In addition to her music, I also really enjoyed the affirming talk that Rob Bell gave from  main stage.  His message - Be you, if you've only got a little to give, give it all, because it is everything.  I happened to go to a few talks that have given me some inspiration of how I can make my mark on the world for God.  I always aim high, in the hopes that one day I'll make it, so watch this space:-)

Thank you Greenbelt for the memories, and see you again next year, perhaps after persuading more and more people to join us!

House Warming- Nice and Toasty

Held ourselves a little house warming party the weekend before last- I personally have far to much fun making decorations and preparing food for parties, but I enjoyed having something productive to do with my time.

Thank you to everyone who came and made our home feel like home.  Now you've been and know where we are, you got no excuse not to visit again.

Engagement's All Round!

I have just had news of two of my friend getting engaged!  Which makes 4 couples in the last two months!

I am crazy excited for them all, each couple is amazing, and unique and so strong.  I wish them all the best in the future, and I LOVE weddings, so look forward to my invites ;-)

Graduation!

This week was a little mental, we've been back up to Keele this week, for graduation cerimonies on Tuesday and the grad ball on Thursday night! Last chance to see everyone in one place and be on campus, in all it's glory.

My course mates, three years later and we've all survived!!!

It's been a mad three years, with its ups and its downs, but this week was a fab way to end it all.  Thank you Keele.

Busy Week!

It has been the last week of the official university term time, and it's been busy!  It is such a strange week too, emotional. 

Keele's end of year party, Woodstoke, a 12hr fairground/festival do, with games and a headphone disco and some bands, including Ms. Dynamite(te-he).  Sadly, I only made it to midnight.  Something I regret a little, as it's my last year, and I wanted to stay out longer, make the most of it and everything.  However much I'd like to live a life with no regrets, I don't know another emotion for when you want to change things sometimes.  The only other response I can think of would be 'Oh well', but that suggests it doesn't matter at all, and I think sometimes, even the little things, are important.  The time I did spend at Woodstoke, however, was awesome!  Dancing on the hill with my people, and I felt really rough after the fairground rides!  Normally I'm fine with that stuff, but having a bbq right before hand was a mistake!  Also got to see The Sunshine Underground play, who were really good, will try to remember to YouTube them later.

Woodstoke was swiftly followed by The Chapel Ball- The social event of the year.  James Bond themed, with cocktails and a chocolate roulette table, buffet, The Big Band and Disco to finish off the evening.  A beautiful night, those people who worked hard to make the space look amazing and sort the food and the drink, did a fantastic job!  We danced till the early hours, then some of us leavers headed to the back of Keele Hall, armed with a bottle of bubbly, and Chinese lanterns.  A lovely way to finish the night off.

As I said, end of the year, so we took some of the random things we've collected over the last few years to a car boot sale.  It was quite a small one, but Dave and I made about £15 pounds, and the others made some cash too, so didn't do too badly.  We had a ton of stuff left over however, so headed to the charity shop, and hopefully they can make some money off of it. 

So, all that, coupled with a cinema trip, the new X-Men, really quite good!  And a family visit from David's Aunt and Uncle.  Its been a busy and quite intense week.

The Long Awaited Harry Potter Party :-)

A time for utter geek-celibration!

Months in the planning, a wee bit too much cash spent on it and far too much excitement in anticipation, the Harry Potter End of Year Party was everything I hoped it would be!  I have been planning this party for ages, since before Christmas.  To be honist, the planning has largely been thinking about what I want to do vs what I can afford to do.  And the end result was AWESOME :-)

We decorated Fran and Em's house, as it had lovely wooden features which meant it was a perfect starting point for turning it in to the Gryffindor common room.

Another chance to make a cake, I went for an owl, in memory of dear Hegwig.  The shape is based on a wedding cake made by Ace of Cakes, but I don't know which show and haven't been able to find a image of the original- sorry. 

Drinks were, naturally, presented in potion form.  We had an alcoholic potion punch, one non-alcoholic, jelly shots in house colours, and wine.  Sweets were also on offer.

We played two drinking games, The Goblet of Fire and one Em made up, and Harry Potter Scene It.

Come Dine With Me

I love having people over for dinner.  We always make something different and special, and get to play board game.  It's fun.

On Saturday night, we had some friend over, ate spare ribs, chips and salad and played Harry Potter Scene It.  We are well aware that our habits of board games and dinner parties is a little odd for university students, but we enjoy it far too much to care.  You could say it is one of the signs we are becoming adults, slowly, while keeping our childish side too.  That is what I aim for any way, the best of both worlds.

Birthday Fun

Yesterday, I turned 22 :-) Woooo!

It was such a busy day! At 10am, we were on the University sports fields, ready for the Rugby7's tournament to start.  Our church had entered a team in witch Husband was playing with some of our friends.  Five games were played, two won, two lost and one drawn.  As we lost against the universities rugby team and then the hockey team, so I don't think there was any shame in that. 

We also had to run at oneish, to get to Grandpa Gilbert's 90th Birthday.  I think that is amazing.  Such a grand old age.  He is especially impressive, he continues to keep an immaculate garden, and make trellis and fences on his power tools.  Ninety, but still strong.  If I get to that age, I hope to God I am that able. 

Finally, my family came up in the evening to go out for dinner.  It was really good to see them, haven't had the chance since before exams started. 

And, I must not forget, check out the cake Husband iced for me.  What do you think?

An English Bridal Shower

As a total surprise for my Friend, Fran, Em and I threw her a bridal shower at university.

We used the social space in the chapel, decorated with lengths of fabric, bunting and fairy lights.  I made cakes and we put on fruit platters (we like to be healthy) and pink cava. 

To begin with, we allowed some boys to join us, as Fran is loved by many, many people, then they were kicked out for the real fun!

Games, including a dangerous game of 'Who Knows the Bride', and Paper Wedding Dresses featuring a classic white gown, a chavy mini dress, and a can't-quite-describe dress.

It was brilliant, I have never been to a bridal shower, or organised a surprise party either.
