Where do I fit in?

Joke :-) ( I hope...)

I've been feeling a little uninspired where it comes to blogging lately.  I'm kind of trying to find a niche to fit in to.  I don't want it to become purely a 'what have I done lately' blog, because, lets be honest, I don't lead a especially interesting life.

I'm not a fashionista, I'm not the constant crafter I would quite like to be, not a foodie, and I'm not this 'perfect housewife' figure either.  I know I don't need a niche, but I think that it would help me to have one so I can always have something to blog about, and not feel like I'm just writing for no reason.

I've been writing this blog for about 9 months now, and I still haven't figured it out.  I take inspiration from a number of excellent bloggers out there, and not all of them know where they fit in either.  But I want this to be some sort of measurable achievement.  Not in numbers, but in content- something I'm proud to have written.  Can I do that with no focus?

Any way, that's what I've been thinking lately, don't know what you think- do we need our niche?  Or does writing about what ever the heck we feel like at any given time create a blog that is worth writing (and reading)?

NanoWriMo

Here is my one and only NaNoWriMo update, to let you know how I'm doing-  Not particularly well...

After the first week I had written around 4500 words, which sounds good, until u realise I should have written roughly 11,000 by then :-S

The second week, I managed to write a further 1000 odd words, but that was it! :-(

I found that I struggled to keep any kind of momentum going, and I really hadn't prepared very well so I struggled to know where my story was going, and I struggled with a writers block case of no inspiration

After the second week, I've not written anything, so I'm so far behind I am giving up this year.  There is no way I could catch up in the next week.

So, I am not one of the 30,000 people who 'win' NaNoWriMo, but I'm ok with that.  I'm part of the 220,000 people who have had a go at completing a life time ambition, not succeeded, but is totally up for trying again next year.

So, I have just 11 months to start planning a new story, hummm.....

NaNoWriMo Update

Well, It isn't really going that well.  I've reached 4302 words (should be around 10,00 by now) but I'm persevering.

I started out with a very limited idea of what i wanted to write about and I think that was my biggest error.  I took all over Thursday off to sit and plan so I knew where I was going.  That go me very behind (not like I wasn't already behind anyway) but at least I had a plan to work with then.

Am going to try and write some more later this evening, but right now, I have just finished my first chapter (out of 16ish) so am rewarding my self with a hot shower and a cup of tea!

I knew this was going to be hard, I did not realize I would fall back into procrastinating habits :-)

NaNoWriMo???

Have you heard of NaNoWriMo? No? Me neither, until this week.

It stands for National Novel Writing Month, a challenge to anyone who has
ever dreamt of writing a novel to do just that, 50,000 words worth of a novel, in one month.

That's right, write one, 50, 000 word novel, in 31 days.

I know, I'm crazy.

But I've ALWAYS wanted to write a book, so I thought, why not have a go.  Not like I've got a life or anything.

So, now, I start tomorrow.  I'm aiming to write between 1600-2000 words per day to stay on target.  I have planned a little bit, I kinda know the theme and the over arching story line, but I really only learnt about it the other day, so I will totally be flying by the seat of my pants.

I'll let you know how it goes!

Pray for me, egg me on and keep me accountable to my commitment,

Freya May
