My New Craft Room

I've been super lucky this last week, and had my dreams of a dedicated craft work space realized!

Until now, I have had a set up on out dining table, in the middle of our living room, and it was a pain to keep the madness that is craft supplies tidy, especially when guests were coming over.

But, now, I have moved into our office, replacing our spare bed with a desk made from two bookshelves from Ikea and a door.  It looks great!  And it's huge!  Plenty of space for both my crafting and my studies.  Read about my inspiration for decorations here.

I still want to decorate the wall some more, I have plans to hang a calendar  some bunting, my paper hearts and some photos or something.  Time to make some more crafts!

Found on Pinterest #13

Hey,

I'm working on setting myself up a proper sewing and work area in out flat, because currently I do all my sewing at the dining table and I don't have a study space either.  We do have the perfect space in our spare room, where the spare bed currently is.  So, the plan is to sell the bed (email me if you want it- black metal day bed, super cute!) and replace it with a nice large desk space where I can keep myself busy.

I know the desk I'm getting, but I want to make the whole space much more homely and creative, so I've scoured Pinterest and found some inspiration.

What I like about these spaces is the use of the walls to hang inspiration and art work, the colours are all bright and welcoming and they all show individual flair.

This is the kind of space I want to create for myself, so watch this space...

Thrifting on a Thursday

Heya!

Had a productive day yesterday, did my chores, worked on my latest dressmaking project, hung out with my Dad, went for a run, and went thrifting.

I picked up a couple of brillient finds in the charity shops, this lovely earring holder, for just one pound!

And a great addition to my tea set.  Again, a bargin for just £1.50p!  I've got a great set of china tea cups now, but I can't stop buying them when I find them so cheaply! Hay, maybe one day I'll have enough to rent out to weddings and things!

Plates!  And plate walls! Check out these prettys...

I LOVE the plate wall idea- and I'm totally planning on stealing it for my own home.  But, first I need a good collection of beautiful plates!  12-15 seem to be a good number.  Now, I don't want any old plates on my wall, I could easily walk in to any charity shop and buy plates galore! No, I want to put time and thought in to this collection and just buy ones I really love and mean something to me.

Lucky for me, I actually found the first plate for the collection at the vintage fair last week!  I really love the colours used in this, and now I've got the first one, it doesn't feel so weird buying them- again, only going to buy special ones!

cost just a single pound! get in!
Do you like it?

Mirror Make Over

I've had this mirror for years and years.  It started out yellow, and I painted it pink when I was about 14, I think, when I redecorated my bedroom.

Now, it looks like this!

Much more sophisticated, don't you agree? :-)  I love how simple it is to totally change the look of picture or mirror frames with a lick of paint.

I'm so happy to finally have a full length mirror up in our bedroom- it's been one of these projects that has needed doing for ages.

A look at organisation- Pinterest style

Type 'Organization' in to Pinterest and thousands upon thousands of pins will come up giving examples of beautiful and immaculate cupboards, pantries, work spaces, children's bedrooms, wardrobes and everything else you could imagine.

I personally love the inspiration, I constantly work towards clearing out and organising our home to make it a nicer place to live.  I hope my mum wouldn't mind me saying, but I get my hording tendencies from her.  But it is a habit we are both trying to get out of.

And I am having fun trying to organise our home, inspired by the above images and more from Pinterest AND so far, I'm super pleased with my efforts.  This week yet another large box of stuff is being donated to charity, and I'll start going through another one when we get it out of storage.

I intend to post a little before/after blog about the office/spare room, as this is hubbies work space (in theory) its needed to be functional as well as pretty.  Stay tuned for that, ok?

New Printables

Hello!

This month I've been a little bit obsessed with organising my home and my time, and I wanted to share with you my new 'To Do' list and cleaning schedule.

I had previously printed off a daily schedule from Pinterest which had lots of useful categories to help organise my time, but I found that I just wasn't using it daily.  So, I thought to my self, what if I just have to fill it in once a week?  And seeing as some things on my 'to do' list tended to roll over each day any way, this system should work much better!

Then, I had my cleaning schedule, which worked perfectly (when I remembered/ could be bothered to follow it- naughty Freya) so I just changed the design to fit in with the 'To Do' as I'm a little anal about things matching as much as possible.

Pretty new things to laminate and hang in my kitchen- yay!!!

And, both of these will be copied in to my brand new Family Folder- another Pinterest inspired project I'll share with you all shortly.

Found on Pinterest #6

This week, on Pinterest, I've been obsessing over colours for decorating our house.

**Please note, we live in rented accommodation so we're not allowed to redecorate properly, but this doesn't stop me wasting hours and hours on the Internet :D**

So, these are the kinds of shades I'm thinking about- usually inspired by film sets such as Lilly and Marshall's house from How I Met Your Mother, the Swan house from Twilight, Monica's flat in Friends, Sheldon and Leonard's flat in The Big Bang Theory.

I love these colours for the bedroom, but I don't want it too girly.

I like these colours for the main house, but there are so many similar colour selections that are slight variations I can't decide (like its important anyways).

For example-

And now for something completely different-

For the kitchen.  Or, is it too random to pair with the other pallet?

Day dreaming as always,

Challange Accepted

Hubby has bought me a new house plant!

A bonsi tree.

As you'll see on my 25 before 25 list keeping a houseplant alive is something I aspire to.

So far, just since we got married, I have owned, and killed, 5 different houseplants.

oh dear!

So, bonsi tree's are suposed to be really difficult to kill off, as they dont need a lot at attention, or a lot of water, and if you do neglect them for a while, they are resilient and should recover.

So, here I go.  Plant #6.  Good luck, little one, I promise to try and keep you alive.

I made us a Den

As a treat for Dave, who is having a tough time at work :-)

It feels like the whole world goes away when your tucked up in all there, I love it!

I don't know how long we'll get to keep it up for though, hoping at least to the wkd, but we do have parents visiting us so...

I used sheets, the sofa, the dining chairs, our clothes airer and a mop to keep the ceiling up!

Best Day EVER!
